Welcome to the Gavriel's Conworlds homepage

This is the original version of the blog, and I started to make a translated version of this blog in Portuguese. This is the blog concerning constructed worlds that will be the base for the societies that speak the languages published at Gavriel's Conlangs, another personal blog of mine.

I have created conlangs and conworlds in my spare time. Since I am one of those crazy guys that always try to wonder what came before and how things got there when reading or watching science fiction, I decided to develop both language and worlds with a background history. Also the societies here created have history behind it. Much work still remains, and since I have a lot of other stuff to do in my life, the creative process here will be kinda slow.

The basic background about the worlds and societies created here in Gavriel's Conworlds revolves around an hypothetical alien civilisation that took several human groups from distinct parts of the Earth and landed them in other previously terraformed planets. Their intents are unknown to the descendants of those people taken from Earth, but something happened to these aliens and they vanished, never to be seen again. Since the beginning of the civilisation as we know it began near the Levant and Mesopotamia, I started with these people (notably the Israelites, which I happen to know better), but I plan to go on developing other societies as well, and a "from zero" society is in my plans as well.

I created three inhabited planets as a means to avoid mixing a lot of cultures and trying to imagine how so much mixing could affect each society for millenia. I have this as a hobby only, because my real passion is astronomy and I am studying Telecommunications Technology at college. Note: these planets were created around real stars that we can see in the night sky here on Earth, and I tried my best to keep them as scientifically sound as I could (I may have slipped here and there on some issues due to the lack of knowledge and me doing it in my spare time).

If someone is interested in making a story that is set in any of these societies and times and plantes, feel free to do so. If you write it obeying to the "history" already created for these societies, send me and I'll gladly publish it here and also give you due credit for it. If you see anything that can be added to the societies I have not yet written so much, feel free also to send me a mail.
